The Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada provides a fair and independent process to review:
- A fine
- A notice of default
- A suspension, a cancellation, or a refusal to renew a licence, or
- A refusal to issue or change documents such as a medical certificate.
These are known as “administrative actions” or, if a fine is involved, an “administrative monetary penalty”.
The Tribunal can review administrative actions under the Canada Transportation Act, the Aeronautics Act, the Canada Shipping Act, 2001, the Marine Transportation Security Act, the Canada Marine Act, the International Bridges and Tunnels Act, the Railway Safety Act, and other federal laws dealing with transportation.
