He also worked for five years with the Northern Medical Unit at the University of Manitoba as a fly-in physician in isolated First Nations communities in Northern Manitoba.

Mr. Conrad’s education includes a Master of Business Administration from the University of Manitoba and a Certificate in Strategic Management of Regulatory Agencies from Harvard University.

His focus in private practice is criminal defence, and has represented multiple clients on homicide charges and before juries. In his government practice his focus is on firearm legislation, firearms safety and training, community and Indigenous outreach, while providing advice to government ministries.

Effective December 18, 2024, Gary Drouin was appointed Governor in Council with a 5-year term as the permanent Chairperson of the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada. Mr. Drouin previously served as the interim Chairperson from November 17, 2022, and prior to that was the Vice-Chairperson following his appointment on October 7, 2022. His appointment is in accordance with Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada Act.
